Living Sacrifice

…..offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:2

As children of God most of us, if not all want, to worship God in a way that pleases him. The holy bible tells us of different ways by which we can worship God, like singing, worshiping him by meditation on his divinity, mediating on his word etc.

In Romans 12:2 St. Paul encourages us to offer our bodies as a living sacrifices holy and pleasing to God and this is worship.

How could we offer our bodies in worship to God?. The 1^st thing that could come to our mind is kneeling down, raising our hands, falling prostrate before God, which is definitely true and surely God is pleased with these acts of worship, but there is something more than this we could do.

Let us get deeper into Romans 12:2, how can we worship god by offering our bodies as a pleasing sacrifice, we can certainly do so in a numbers of ways, in our day to day living so many times we use our tongue to curse, to hurt somebody by being arrogant and haughty, by spreading rumors and gossiping, instead of doing all this we could use our tongue to bless someone, to encourage someone who is in need of a kind word, to pray for somebody who is in need of prayer, by using our tongue to share the gospel with someone who is in need of the gospel.

We use our mind or heart by feeding it with negative thoughts, of hatred, misunderstanding, pride, hatred, jealously etc. and in turn we end up displaying hatred, pride, prejudice, arrogance etc. to our brethren. Instead we should feed our heart and mind with his word, and pray this prayer the psalmist prayed “ay the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Ps 19:14”.

Instead of using our ears to listen to God’s word, and keeping our ears tuned to the voice of God, we end up listening to gossip, songs of the world and songs that glorify the devil.  Instead of using our eyes to glorify God we end up doing the opposite by using our eyes to read and see evil things (movies, pornography etc.), we should use or eyes to read the word of God etc.

I urge you to make a decision to offer your body as a living sacrifice to God, lets us be conscious to make sure our very word, every thought and every action and deed is directed as  a sign of worship to God., Do those things which will please God, which will exalt the name of God.
